AL MAUN
Imtiaz Ali is a UNESCO awarded stone artisan working with stone carving for more than two decades. He mastered the craft at an early age, learning from his father. He set up Al Maun to gather like minded and gifted Agra based artisans who share his passion for keeping the art of stone carving alive. A tight-knit group these artisans pride themselves in their history. They believe their ancestors were brought from Persia to India during the Mughal period to make unique lattice stone carvings. Today they continue to work alongside their family members to produce intricately carved sandstone and soapstone lattice pieces focusing on quality and attention to detail.
